Everyone is an Earthian at heart. No matter what religion, political system or belief system they adhere to. We are not here to judge, or to force a set of values upon anyone. We believe that at heart, everyone wants to do that which is better for others, given their way of seeing the world.

That said, if we are to achieve global unity, we need to look for what bonds us. To that end, we propose to respect a set of shared values, to discover and enrich your personal values and to strive towards uniting individuals.

Without a practical outlet for this - the exercise would remain “philosophical mumbo-jumbo”. Therefore, we aim to exercise these thoughts in the process of creating EDU’s (Earthian Decentralized Units), that create valuable products and services in the real world.

Foundational Values

Radical Personal Responsibility

We do not play the ‘blame game’. We take full responsibility for the success of whatever it is we are doing. In every adverse situation, every member of the team could have prevented it or mitigated the downfall. In every success, every member of the team - played a crucial role in it.

Example:

Robert is tasked with negotiating a 50 000 EUR contract with a client that is all but guaranteed to take the deal, as they always have before.

Unfortunately, Robert makes an unknown error during the negotiation, and the client not only decided not to take the deal but stops all orders from our organization. Total loss = 150 000 EUR per annum.

Normally, Robert would get fired on the spot. However, in “Earthians” - if you are in Roberts team - you would have to ask yourself: What could I have done to prevent this? Did we organize proper onboarding and training for Robert? Did we introduce the client to Robert in a proper way? Was Robert made aware of all the previous history with the client, and their preferences, etc? Radical. Personal. Responsibility. Do not blame others, ever.

Action Is The Solution

When in doubt, take action. Nothing good comes out of sitting around doing nothing, unless of course - you have actively decided that sitting around doing nothing is the best course of action for the time being.

Example:

Robert (I hope Robert does not mind we keep picking on imaginary Roberts) has the decision to make. Should he work on the website or should he code a new widget? Well, he could sit around thinking about it all day long, but action is the sure way to solve it. One, get in touch with someone else and ask for advice. Perhaps, you should raise the point with the group? The point is - to do something.

Prescient Presence

Worrying about the past or dreading the future is pointless. We will not dwell on this, for many philosophers have done a much better job on the matter. We simply want to state, that Earthians live in the present moment. Here and now.

This, however, is not a ‘feel-good, new-age mantra’. This is a practical tool for life. We stay in the present moment, but we are ‘prescient’ and ‘aware’ of everything that happened in the past and we vaguely consider all the possibilities of the future, yet the focus is on the present.

Example:

Robert. We will not pick on you this time. How about Philipp, now that is a good name that nobody ever picks on. [Please let us know if you have a good example, we will add it here.]
